Ropers, Ranch Riders, and Pleasure Horse breeders take a look at this dynamic stallion. AQHA World Champion Junior Tie Down L3 stallion, CFR Arete Gun. This 2016, 15.1 HH, Chestnut Stallion is sired by the $9-million sire Gunnatrashya, out of a daughter of a long-time participating Gallop stallion, Lenas Wright On. While beginning CFR Arete Gun's career as a Reiner and National Reining Horse Association futurity prospect, he made a career change as a late three-year-old to Tie-Down and Team Roping.

Gary Wells took over rope horse training with him as a four-year-old, and under his guidance, Cody McCartney Arete won his first AQHA World Championship. Steve Orth and Arete won the Top Five in the AQHA Junior Heeling that same year. While continuing to excel at futurities with reserve titles at the American Rope Horse Futurity Association Redbud and Oil Can Classic, Dakota Kirchenschlager rode Arete to a Reserve Championship at both the 2022 Redbud Classic and Royal Crown Futurity. Being such a talented, young stallion, Jared Crain, Buddy Wacaser, and Jack Bogart partnered on CFR Arete Gun and decided to breed Arete when he finished at the futurities.

CFR Arete Gun's Performance Record is impressive: AQHA World Champion Tie Down (L3), Reserve Champion ARHFA Oil Can Calf Roping, Reserve Champion at the Redbud Classic, Reserve Champion Royal Six & Under Heeling, AQHA Houston Rodeo Champion Tie Down, Dixie Nationals Tie Down Champion, and he holds a Superior in AQHA Tie Down. This young stallion has already amassed over $68k and 419 AQHA Points in Lifetime Earnings.

His owners are excited about the crossing of cow-bred mares on Arete in anticipation of those resulting foals excelling in the roping pen and cow-horse arena. Still, his owners strongly feel that breeding him to a reining mare will make him a standout sire of successful Reiners. They're confident that with him being such a versatile stallion, he can win either Reining or Roping. His first year at stud was 2023.

Trainers have said that he was always a horse that wanted to get along and was easy to train. Several times at the ARHFA and Royal Crown events, he had to run 10-15 steers and calves on the same day, and he never wavered and consistently performed at a top level in all events. Everyone knows that's a challenging feat on any horse, let alone a young stallion. With his confirmation, disposition, and talent, his offspring will be of significant value to the mare owners' breeding program. CFR Arete Gun is tested Five-Panel N/N. His offspring are eligible for the Royal Crown Roping and the Top Gun Stallion ARHFA Incentive.
